The white and bubbly elegance of milk glass brightens up any summer table, offering a vintage and classic look for fresh cut flowers or an afternoon tea. What I love about milk glass the most is that it's timeless and makes a great conversation starter.
The milk glass below is from my beloved grandmother Marie and is very cherised, as I inherited most of her collection. It transports me to the 1960's, as I can only imagine her in her cozy kitchen, listening to Sinatra and drinking black coffee. Maybe trying to find a moment of solace as a mother of ten.

Marie's Milk Glass (most likely Fenton, but no pieces are marked)
The Fenton Art Glass Company was a popular manufacturer, and had the more defined hobnails as shown above. With an extensive history, milk glass was very popular in the 1940s-1970s, and was considered an affordable alternative to porcelean, which made it very attainable for the middle class.
I also have my grandmother's vine and grape pattern bowl, shown below, which is also not marked with a manufacturer. The Westmoreland Glass Company and the Indiana Glass Company were known for that pattern. There were many other companies who made milk glass, and rarer pieces include milk glass that is colored pink, blue, yellow and black.

Most antique and consignment stores will have milk glass for sale. I thought this bud vase on Amazon was similar to any vintage milk glass piece:

This past spring, I hosted a small party and loved styling the table with a few pieces of milk glass. While my house was built in the early 1900's, milk glass is so versatile, it could easily add charm to a farmhouse table or a modern kitchen.
I was also fortunate to inherit this milk glass lamp with a marble base. It's one way milk glass can be used to set a more romantic tone.

Since milk glass lamps like this are rare, I was surprised to find there a few beautiful modern replicas of an antique milk glass lamp.

I hope you find a gorgeous piece of milk glass to add joy to your summer and beyond.
